Members and Roles
People become members of your organization through an invitation, by auto-joining on a verified email domain, or through your identity provider when SSO is enforced. Every member carries a role that determines what they can do. Member management lives under Organization Settings → Members.
Inviting Members
-
Click Invite Member
-
Enter the person's email address and select their role (see Roles below)
-
Optionally assign them to specific groups
-
Click Send Invitation
The person receives an email with a link to accept the invitation. The link is valid for 14 days; if they don't accept in time, you can resend the invitation or create a new one. Invitations work regardless of your SSO settings, and an invitation marked SSO-exempt carries that exemption onto the resulting member.
There are no per-user fees, so we recommend inviting your whole team rather than a single "compliance owner". The program works best when it reflects how your organization actually operates.
Roles
Each member has one role:
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control, including billing, ownership transfer, and deleting the organization; always exempt from SSO enforcement so you cannot lock yourself out |
| Super Admin | Everything an admin can do, plus billing and subscriptions |
| Admin | Manages organization settings, members, and most objects; no billing access |
| Member | Day-to-day work with organization resources, including sending invites |
| Auditor | Read-oriented access designed for external auditors, with the ability to work with evidence and reviews |
The exact object-by-object permissions for each role are laid out in the authorization matrix; when role-level access is too coarse, groups refine it per object.
Managing Members
The Members section lists every current member, their role, and when they joined.
- Change a role: find the member, click their current role, select the new role, and confirm.
- Remove a member: find the member, click the remove option, and confirm. Members can also leave the organization themselves at any time.
Joining Automatically
Beyond invitations, there are two mechanisms that add people to your organization without a manual invite, and which one applies depends on whether SSO is enforced:
- Auto-join by email domain (SSO not enforced): anyone who verifies an email address on one of your allowed email domains is added as a member.
- Just-in-time provisioning (SSO enforced): anyone who successfully authenticates against your identity provider is added as a member, optionally restricted to specific email domains.
Both are configured under Organization Settings → Authentication, and the SSO guide covers the mechanics, the settings, and how to choose between them. Restricting allowed email domains also constrains who can be invited; free email providers like Gmail cannot be used as allowed domains.
If you're working with a fractional chief information security officer (CISO) or consultant, adding their domain upfront (as an allowed domain, or as an SSO exempt domain when SSO is enforced) makes collaboration much smoother.
