Email Integration

By default, Openlane sends emails on your behalf from a shared Openlane sending address. The Email integration lets you send your campaign emails, such as Trust Center update announcements to your subscribers, from your own Resend account and sender address instead.

note

Resend is currently the only supported email provider.

Key Capabilities

  • Your Own Sender Address: Send campaign emails from an address you choose rather than the shared Openlane one.
  • Resend Delivery: Send through your own Resend account using a Resend API key.

Prerequisites

  • A Resend account.
  • A Resend API key with permission to send email.
  • The address you want to send from.

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Create a Resend API Key

  1. In Resend, create an API key with permission to send email.
  2. Copy the key value; it is only shown once.

Step 2: Connect in Openlane

  1. Navigate to Organization Settings > Integrations and find Email.

  2. Click Configure and provide the following:

    FieldRequiredDescription
    providerYesEmail provider; resend
apiKeyYesResend API key, used to authorize sending
fromEmailYesThe address your emails are sent from
companyNameYesCompany display name shown in the email footer
companyAddressNoCompany mailing address shown in the footer for CAN-SPAM compliance
  3. Click Save & Connect.

note

The integration controls only who an email comes from and the footer identity. The look and feel of an email (its logo, colors, layout, and body content) comes from the email template used for the send. Trust Center update emails additionally use your Trust Center branding, so set your logo and styling there.

Validate Connection

After saving, Openlane runs a health check that confirms your Resend credentials can send email. The result appears on the Installed tab of the Integrations page. You should see a Healthy badge confirming the connection. If it shows Needs Attention, review the troubleshooting section below.

What This Integration Powers

Once connected and enabled for campaigns, Resend delivers Openlane's campaign emails, such as:

  • Trust Center update announcements sent to your subscribers
  • Questionnaire campaign invitations sent to recipients

Trust Center emails continue to use your Trust Center branding for their look and feel; this integration controls the sender address they come from.

note

Some system messages, such as subscription confirmation emails and subprocessor change notifications, are always sent by Openlane on your behalf and are not affected by this integration.

Disconnect

To remove this integration:

  1. Navigate to Organization Settings > Integrations
  2. Select the Installed tab
  3. Open the menu on the integration card and select Disconnect.

This removes the stored credentials and stops sending through Resend. Openlane resumes sending on your behalf from its default address.

Troubleshooting

  • Health check failed: verify the Resend API key value.
  • From address rejected by Resend: make sure the fromEmail you entered is an address Resend allows you to send from.
